Greg IMHO, jazz is not dead, lots of new musicians carrying on the tradition, Diana Krall, KEB'MO' etc.Only the audience has changed. Look, Rockabilly is alive with Eric Heatherly, he is like the reincarnation of Carl Perkins. No rap in my house. :-]

I think there's excellent contemporary jazz out there, and some excellent contemporary jazz artists. Norman Brown, Rick Braun, Boney James, Fourplay, Keiko Matsui, to name just a few. Yes, Jazz has evolved, but still an art form, unlike rap.
