The unfortunate part about today's events was not only Bush's filing and losing on the injunction to stop further counting, but also his joining the State of Florida in arguing on behalf and along side Katherine Harris in her stated intention to force Certification by 5:00pm tomorrow. This really paints Bush as every bit the win by any means candidate that is said of him. Not to let Gore off the hook entirely, I think it is possibly a mistake for him to be suing Broward County for not continuing with their hand recount. 4 votes on 3% of the county could well be decisive for the whole state. It may also be unnecessary. Who knows. In large part it may be that they are merely keeping the option open if it turns out that the election would swing on 25 votes or so. Lordy, you got to love this story. Better than the Super Bowl and likely to effect the markets more than any NFC Team victory too.
