Baker also said that machines couldn't be consciously or unconsciously biased. This is true because they aren't sentient. They certain can be be biased for a lot of mechanical reasons - tracks are misaligned, readers are occluded, and many, many more. So what he was saying was a classic logical fallacy .

Since they can't be consciously or unconsciously biased (TRUE) we are supposed to think they can't be biased at all (FALSE). Maybe this works with most people. It certainly wouldn't with anyone experienced with argument.
