See, unlike most of you, I don't really care who gets elected.

Come on, Dave. Give us a break. Go back and read your last series of post and tell me what you've ranted about here is not partisan. You insult many here by your claim of objectivity.

I just think it's very bad for the country to have a leader if that leader was not elected by the will of the people with as much accuracy as we can get.

First, Dave its not necessarily "very bad" but rather just not a good thing. The election result SHOULD REFLECT the will of the people. But the issue you implicitly raise is HOW MUCH accuracy is necessary to express that will. You comments imply that you would want 100 percent accuracy. While this ideal is most honorable it is anything but practical as it is unconceivable to have an inordinate series of recounts and hand counts not only in Broward County but in every county in the State, and a similar procedure in every state in which the margin of victory was objectively narrow to warrant a recount.

Implict in your comments is naivete about the election process. Elections are not perfect, but they are fair. By fair that means that the inherent imperfections of elections cuts both ways, for and against, BOTH candidates. Unfortunately, you and most Democrats view the imperfections of the election process as uniquely against Al Gore, and have sought recounts in selective Florida counties in which Gore stands to gain by the recount process.

Your assertion of objectivity fools no one.
