possible compromise underway: Gore drops the lawsuits challenging the butterfly ballot and all of Florida undergoes handcount. Seems like bad compromise for Bush, imho, because the butterfly ballot allegations are BS.

Lip, not that it matters much but I think that all three on the Palm Beach canvassing board are Democrats, including the judge. However the judge is a Jeb Bush appointee. That guy's gonna have to do some fine fence-sitting. :)

OT: YAPP (Yet Another Political Piece) - Lipko

A few legal recount requests have been made. If other voters or candidates want additional recounts and the deadline for such requests has not passed, then they should request and pay for a manual recount in each specific county. The election officials who have received recount requests have asked the court for sufficient time to complete their legally specified duties. The court will likely see the county officials' request as not unreasonable and will then enjoin the Sec.of State's deadline . No strategy - no arguments, just my prediction of the legal outcome today.
