Peter's Personal Directory....

>>I would assume (pardon my assumption here) that if someone were to take this technology and say develop a "product" which also created a "service" - Novell would support them in terms of development. Remember, Novell is a great company of engineers...the product side is well....not as strong :)

Perhaps the best thing Novell could do is "open up" this technology to developers and let them "run" with it.

Now as an investor I'd like to see how Novell would benefit from this....well - there are many ways. Giving one part of a solution away will create demand for other parts which Novell "sells" (the infrastructure stuff). Sort of like giving away Internet Explorer to drive sales of your internet-related products like web servers :)>>

Peter:

I agree!!

If Novell isn't going to do anything with Personal Directory there is no reason why they can't make a statement which would encourage outside developers to embrace and run with this ball.

Why don't YOU take this ball and run with it??

Just be sure to open up the entire process.

Involve Scott, Toy, Paul and others.

How about Paul's Political City project. I'm working with folks on two digital city projects - one here and one out west - to integrate VoIP and Unified Messaging services into their product blend/bundles.

IMHO, the entire infrastructure of the Internet will begin, end and revolve around PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL directories.

I might have one core PD and from 3-12 proxy PDs.

And the data that these directories point to could be sliced, diced, fragmented and dispersed among millions of virtual net serves located all over the world.

We are heading AWAY from technology, directory, storage and development models predicated on centalized power and control.

Put simply, the REAL Internet is when the world comes to US - INDIVIDUALS. Period.

And, by the same token, the REAL Internet will support a world where NOBODY is above ANYBODY. We all simply find our ideal grove/niche/energy in this great River of Life, Let GO and ride with the flow on our own personal boats.

The Old control models want these boats either to be abandoned or tied/tethered to some other boats.

Think of it this way: trust will transcend and replace the need for control.

Quite the opposite of how we perceive the world today.

Go for it Peter!!

Peace.

GO!!
