Nope. DDR does not transfer data in half the time. It (potentially) transfers twice the data in the same amount of time (as SDRAM). Hence, as data lines are switching more rapidly, and all other things being the same (Vcore, process geometry etc.), DDR would take more power- not less- than SDRAM.

Most of the DDR power saving comes from the reduced operating voltage.

you're saying that transferring say 100 MB through memory would take the same amount of time on DDR as SDR?
I think what you mean is that per cycle DDR transfers more but in the same amount of time. But per MB of data, DDR requires less transfer time. that's what we call it faster right?

your second point I think is still valid though. Most of the saving comes from voltage reduction.
