Good question. It's surprising to me that a free service with bells and whistles has not caught on after Q committed to the concept. Is the Eudora free-call announcement a possible explanation?

Why netzero is not on the list?

I don't know, but I just sent an e-mail to Julie Cunningham in IR and asked her.

I saw the CEO of NetZero being interviewed on CNBXC yesterday. He sounded very solid. Says they have lots of cash and their burn rate is actually dropping. One of the reasons: the cost of acquiring new customers has fallen to $13 with so many of their competitors dropping by the wayside.

He made what sounded like a strong case for their model. He said they were adding members as fast or faster than AOL right now.

Will post IR's response to my e-mail.

Why Netzero is not on the list?

As stated in the press release, Netzero is part of a group of larger strategic investments including Leap, Wingcast, Wireless Knowledge, Korea Freetel, Shensegi and Velocom. Qualcomm Ventures' investments are generally less than $10 million.
