My point was not to say anything about whether the story of Jesus is true or not. My point was that a group in isolation, such as on an island, could not know the story of Jesus nor the requirement of babtism without either receiveing the book or a teacher from the outside. It is not therefore self evident.

My daughters scripture was on the ethics of lying, using the passage of Abraham and Sarah entering Egypt and lying to the officials about their marriage so as to keep Abraham from being killed. She developed some good insites from it.

Our NOTION of Abe Lincoln is certainly a creation of men and a highly distorted and colored one. Facts were selected to support a position about him by people who benefited by his tenure. The Abe Lincoln we know about is almost certainly different than the REAL Abe Lincoln. He has been transmuted to a symbol and now that he is a symbol, the myth and the truth become inseparable.
