Yes! Each county must send their certification to the state by 5:00 PM (which is today) 7 days after the election, if not put them dudes in the trash you are out of luck. Will not be counted. I heard one State official say preliminary certification tonight and then final certification Friday night.

decision coming any moment as to extending the deadline.......

looks like the old law said Shall and the new law say May.....geez!

>>"what i can't understand in FL is why the vote count must be final by tuesday when there are absentee ballots that are not overdue until friday. how do they include those? are they valid votes? what am i missing here?"<<

JMHO, Perhaps Florida law originally demanded the certification of all votes 7 days after the election. Then, someone found that overseas ballots were being received with an appropriate postmark date, but arrived several days after the certification deadline. Perhaps they chose to amend the deadline for absentee votes to fairly accommodate these folks, yet they maintained their certification deadline for the in state voting so the state could complete their duties in a timely fashion.

This would allow absentee voters to have their vote count while the state could adhere to their previously agreed upon schedule.
