I wish I could have just voted for one of the VP's... H*ll I probably would have voted for Clinton over these two. Of course that's part of the problem. The country didn't really like EITHER candidate. The irony of the situation is that we have such heated arguments now over two candidates no one really likes all that much.

It is Gore, not Bush, who began using extraordinary means. e.g. Jesse Jackson, support of lawsuits, manual re-classification of ballots, that changed standards even in mid-course, etc.
