Ok, count me in. Do you think this fad of everyone buying a gas hog SUV.. even if the steepest thing they climb is their driveway a good idea? Alaska is a tiny contributor to the solution. SUV increased gas consumption is about what Alaska produces..(not scientific)..-g-

What are you driving? I have a 4-wheel drive that I very much need, but drive a small diesel pick-up..(over 30/gallon) when I don't need the 4-wheel..99% of the time.

American resource abuse.. well don't get me started.

After 30 years (post embargo), it's clear that most in the US just wait to use up the oil. Just delaying the inevitable. Auto fuel economy could be 1/3 higher today if we so chose, with the added bonus of reduced greenhouse gas emissions. So I support sacrifice, too, just of ourselves rather then the environment now.

I agree -- along with investment in cleaner coal technologies (a resource we have in abundance) --

we just don't have a national energy policy (unless you count low financing rates on SUVs as a policy ) ...
