It will go up further once it's clear public opinion has swayed (if it has but I think it will/has already in the press). Maybe in another week or so earnings reports will be the markets concern again. Now for the fed to go to a neutral stance on inflation. We still have some rocky ground ahead of us (no doubt) but the path is beginning to clear now.

On another note. We do need Gore's camp to concede in a very dignified way that helps to unite the country again. This is still several days away most likely. However.. without this the nation remains partially divided and a cloud of uncertainty will hang over the Dec 18th electoral college vote. Remember Tom.. when we talked about this I said two things were going to hurt the market.

1. If this thing went into the courts we would go to 3000 (I wasn't expecting 2850)

2. Uncertainity leading up to the Dec 18th vote with only 1/2 of the delegates under legal obligation to vote for who won their state. This would hit the market again. I have sense found out that these delegates are picked for their party loyalty. That helps matters.

#2 is another reason why Gore needs to concede in a firm but gracious manner and not drag this thing out.
