DJ & Mary: Keep plugging. I used to be a Brahman about technology, and became dinosaur because of it. The power of individual initiative is stronger than any single initiative. The barbarians will ultimately wins against the romans, and start new civilizations.
Dell's strategy of nibbling at the market from 1P, 2P to 4P,8P and on will work. But Dell has a long way to go to become the dominant force in the enterprise market. The failure of HW(last of the dinosaurs) is a prime example. Dell needs to be a lot more aggressive than now.
I hope we will see some signs in that direction soon.
Results not just talk.

D.J. Smythe,<<<Intel tomorrow is hosting a live Webcast on 64bit migration >>>

I would just like to hear one of these glib talking heads on TV when they trash the PC/Computer Industry, when they talk about over saturated markets, when they say that everyone is heading toward wireless handhelds - I wish they could somehow signal to me that they are aware of the implications of IA64 on e-business data centers and database services. And:

As businesses replace phones, fax machines and people with highly customized automated services, this places considerable burden on database and data warehouse servers. End user populations grow, applications become increasingly personalized, and the reliance on database services becomes even more critical.

And, then if they want to glibly say the PC industry is over saturated and money can't be made in that space anymore.

Only then, I wouldn't agree, but I wouldn't be so angry over the vapidness of the talking head.
