speaking about ways of screwing people, when the media gave Fla. to Gore well BEFORE it was certain, the predominantly Republican voters in the panhandle which is in a different time zone didn't bother to vote anymore.

I believe the exit polling info from VNS, used by all major networks was correct, given the percentage and distribution of precincts reporting at the time of the announcement. The consortium has excellent statistical modeling (which only hanging chad can screw-up apparently.) If the Republican voters in the panhandle decided to stay home that was their choice. No doubt other elective offices and issues (bond, referendum) appeared on their ballots. No sympathy here. Those who show-up make the decisions, period.

otherwise Bush's lead would probably be much larger, and there wouldn't be any wrangling.

Do you have an estimate on the number of those who stayed home? I haven't seen one myself.
