Brian, I'm only expressing views based on direct experience. If a machine refuses to count a ballot because of some imperfection that can be identified through manual inspection, then clearly, where the results are as close as this, one needs to perform a manual inspection. If the Republicans are worried about all counties in Florida not being subjected to the same type of hand count, then they have a perfect right to demand hand counts, especially in the counties they think would be most favorable to their candidate. NO ONE IS PREVENTING ANY MANUAL RECOUNT, other than the Republicans themselves.

I've been an employee of an election monitoring office in Michigan. I've also witnessed first hand a close local election in which my wife lost by five votes. In this case, they recounted all the votes, both machine and absentee ballots, in a process monitored by both parties. All the votes were counted. My wife lost. End of story. You know, it's that simple logic that makes me wonder why the Republicans are putting up such a fuss.
