>>I continue to believe that the biggest error the Bush team made was in not stressing above all else that a bunch of partisan (both sides) geezers counting 6 million votes without standards is not necessarily superior to an automated count done twice - despite the "known" flaws.<<

wayne, i think the republicans stressed this very much. this was their lynchpin, imho. i think they blew it b/c they didn't demand recounts.

i am not so inclined to think the sec of state will crumble. it is at least even money that she sticks to her guns - the argument being "the counties knew the law, they did not take appropriate action and so they lose out. they could have staffed more folks to count. this should not surprise anybody." and then she will run like h*ll from the frothing at the mouth demos...

Wayne

Maybe I chose the wrong guy to run this one by, but here it is.

Doesn't this Katherine Harris thing seem just a tad like a Saturday night live skit?

She will decide which votes to accept? How will that go? "OK what do you have there.. 40 votes for Bush... MMMM I'll accept those... and you, what do you have? 200 votes for Al... MMMMM nope, I can't accept those"

Seems Florida is a tie, plain and simple. 300 votes in no margin, and it will disappear. If Gore wasn't such a geek he would let this go a few more days, get a lead without a total state hand count and walk away. You're right noone wants to be in the white house this next four years.

Do you think Greenbriar will move to neutral tomorrow. BKX was troubled all day, but rumor was they had .bomb losses on their minds.

wizzz

Wayne, I am reading it differently. If Baker can get off his high horse for a minute or two, the Dems will agree to recount the entire state, Republican and Democratic strongholds both. They wouldn't really have much choice after Al's speech yesterday. So, my guess is that the Republican Secretary of State will not give in unless they recount everything, which is the way it should have been done in the first place.
