Yes, absolutely. Explains why some were double-punched (it's fun to punch) or not punched (just there for the event).

A true story about THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS IN THE VOTING BOOTH: My dad, a Republican political operative in the 50's, shared this with me. A then-typical country-club Republican candidate ran in a district which had a substantial blue collar contingent, too. The blue collar workers, many of whom were immigrants with limited or no English, all knew how to make an "X." The more affluent voters, likely to vote Republican, were more accustomed to using a "check mark" to signify their choice and highlight things in every day life.

THE BALLOT INSTRUCTIONS SAID TO MAKE AN "X" NEXT TO THE VOTER'S CHOICE.

The Democrat-dominated judges threw out the Republicans' "check mark" ballots as invalid, and the blue-collar Democrat's candidate won with the "X" ballots.

Now, what if we had RADICAL STANDARDS TODAY, like we had in the '50's, REQUIRING PEOPLE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WHEN THEY VOTE?

Off with his head I say! <g>

FWIW, I'm sure the chance to get some attention might have refreshed a couple of memories after the election. Even the elderly have foibles & flaws.

Tom, even if there were genuinely enough folks to make a difference, but, for one reason or another, failed to vote for the candidate of their choice due to their own actions or inactions; IMVHO, they failed to properly exercise their right to vote & the will of the people should not be for others to divine their true intent for them.

Look at the debate all over the WWW. Very few middle of the road folks. Now consider how partisan those folks will be performing the manual recount. The subconscious is far more powerful than folks want to admit. I just can't see how anyone can assure that these people can divine who will be the next president.

Everyone has a right to have their vote counted. IMVHO, they should not have it divined for them, in a manner that could create an apple to oranges bias to the final totals.
