Samart Money: Regarding analysts, Briefing.com makes an excellent point, namely, that the analysts from large brokerage firms that maintain business relationships with the firms that they are assigning ratings to are not to be trusted. Rather, one should seek out and focus on the analysts from the smaller brokerage houses and money management firms that DO NOT have any direct banking or investing relationships with any of the stocks they are reviewing and rating. Often, they are ahead of the curve and give ratings or make meaningful comments that go against the grain of the ANAL-ysts from the larger brokerage houses. Some of the smaller firms to look for regarding a more independent kind of stock analysis are:
Schroder & Co., Piper Jaffray, Morgan Keegan, ING Barings, and ABN Anro.
