It is hard to argue with your points. I would just say that unless there is fraud or some other obvious corruption, I don't see the Judicial getting into the Executive branch's business other than to Adjudicate it back to the State's correct authorities like Mrs. Davis. I could be wrong but I felt if it stayed in the street then Gore had a chance, I feel now it is sufficiently out of the street and that the Gore side will see the POLITICAL light.

When it comes to attorneys who will do the lowest to get anything - Dershowitz is the lowest.

if SexyState Harris blocks additional votes from WestPalm, she will need a valid reason... I dont think "machines functioned properly" will be sufficient... my guesss is the justification will be "arbitrary standard inequitably applied"... but either way, the Florida Supreme Court will be appealed to... then the US Supreme Court might quickly become involved

This new turn for reasons for the handcount is basically going to finish this thing. The ruling against Gore today on the deadline was a huge loss for them, whether they admit it or not.
Now this request for reasons due tomorrow by 2pm is just a tactic to ensure that she has enough reasons to not allow late ammendments from handcounts.
I am positive she can find a reason in the county's submission to disallow any results from handcounts. One can always find something wrong to pick and then she would be seen not to disallow the recounts arbitrarily---just as the judge stated.

The only reason Bush is in court to stop the recount is that that they don't want the numbers of any manual recounts to be published because the recounting could continue even if Harris says she won't consider the manual recount results.
The reason is simple-----
Bush does not want to be seem as an illegitimate president if the manual recount results show he had lost. It will be a black mark on his presidency; maybe just as bad as impeachment against Clinton. That is really the main reason for him still appealing.

Unless the absentee votes change the result, this one is over. Gore will face too much pressure to concede if Harris does not give extra time for the manual counts. I do think Gore will drop it but would prefer to still see the results of manual recount in Palm Beach (it will help him in 4 years!). Taking it to the end of the line in legal action is not going to be his plan if he has any ideas for trying it again.

Based upon the developments today on recount issue, Bush had a slam dunk today.

Of course absentee votes will still the key. Does anyone have an idea what numbers are being thrown around on such votes? I am referring to the ones not yet counted.

Morning Jim,

Re....Dershowitz is calling Harris "bought and paid for"
(I consider that comment horribly unprofessional for an attorney)

Dershowitz IMO is the big cheese Sleazeball of all the attorneys. I have more respect for Johnny Cochran.

Later,
Joel
