Gilder is not at the center of my DD universe. I usually get, and read, the GTR, which is his most public forum, I believe. I do not visit the Forum, primarily for the reasons stated above. As I said, his strength is in the technology side. I don't see him as having any special expertise in financial analysis. Again, that's NOT a knock. I have little patience for people who "dis" GG for backing G* because it hasn't turned out to be a great investment. He is absolutely right that the technology is great, and offers the potential for real cost advantages in deployment. When he introduced G* in GTR, he talked about the technology. In most of his writeups he discusses the technology, and kind of "assumes" the financial position is satisfactory. As we've seen, it's dangerous for us to make that assumption. But, GG has offered real value in pointing out the potential of his picks. I will always be grateful for his pointing out QCOM, in Forbes, in 1997. And what are all these little hole punches lying all over the floor? :o)
