For years, fpu throughput was the "real" measure of cpu performance, because that is how scientists and engineers did their simulations. But with the recent surge of interest in applications related to security and data encryption, good integer performance seems to have gain respect lately. More encryption benchmarks are showing up, and AMD shines here.
