Don -- all the good statistical analysis points to Palm Beach County as both a state and national outlier of proportions that are almost unimaginable due to pure chance. Taking the further anomaly of the McReynolds vote, it seems settled that the most likely explanation is a small minority of Gore voters being confused by the 'butterfly ballot'. I haven't seen any good analysis of the senate vote; inspection alone doesn't convince me. If you'd like to attack the analysis of PBC anomalies, please follow any of the links I've posted recently; I find the numerical work pretty convincing. -mb
