This mess was going to end up in the Florida Supreme Court sooner or later, and maybe she thought it would be better if she took the initiative. Still, in a state that has Republican governor, Republican state legislature (both houses) and a Republican Congressional delegation, it is ironic that the Republican Secretary of State went to the Florida Supreme Court, all of whose members were appointed by Democratic governors. From what I've heard, the court has a bit of a liberal bent, just last year removing Ward Connerly's anti-affirmative action measure from the ballot. No wonder GW rolled his dice with his very iffy federal civil rights action.
