I follow your logic, and am sorry that in many cases your logic is valid. However, this is only due to the fact that many people don't take the time to critically examine their beliefs, rather than blindly accepting the beliefs of others as their own.

I believe in creation by a Creator, and I believe in the evolution of species (as discussed by Darwin). The two are not necessarily inconsistent, yet many people believe they are diametrically opposed.
