I've been amused to watch the footage of the machine counts on TV. They appear to be using old Dataproducts (I think that's the brand, although it might have been Datacraft or something else -- it's been a long time!) punch card readers like the ones we used about 30 years ago (and which I hadn't seen in use in about 20 years). A real blast from the past.

They were pretty reliable for their day, but I'm not sure I'd bet the future of the free world on one.

Any human count will be much less accurate than the machines.

These elections people are exhausted, they're under a lot of pressure, and they are using inconsistent standards and are making their own judgement calls in their counting.
