Dems have few blacks in leadership positions. They prefer to hold them down.

Powell and Rice are exemplary individuals but may not be the right people for these all-important jobs, basically running our entire foreign policy. Powell is a great soldier. Rice is a prodigy but might be a better #2 or #3 person rather than promoting her to #1 on the basis of limited actual experience. She may be an expert on Russia but she hasn't been in the trenches since she was in her mid 30's during the Bush Sr. administration. Do you want her negotiating a arms control deal with the Russians or Chinese? Not me. No racism at all here, but one cannot deny that during the convention these two were clearly used by the GOP as symbolic tokens to make the GOP look like a party where blacks were comfortable. In fact only about 2% of Republicans are black and it's no accident many of those are in the miltary. Or they are the rare types who actually look down on their own people and therefore hate liberalism like Larry Elders. There certainly are opportunities in the GOP for blacks if you don't mind being used as a token.
