Your ignorance is showing. To do away with the electoral college would require a constitutional amendment. That would require every state signing-off on the amendment. That will never happen. Even if it did happen, it would take many more than just a "few years".

Geesh!

The electoral college will probably be done away with in the next few years.

It isn't going anywhere. It will only take 2% - 3% of the public, which would be those most affected negatively by it, to stop any ratification of such a constitutional change

American Spirit: it is not as simple as that.

One of the main reasons the Electoral College was created was to force a candidate to "speak" to the entire country.
If we do away with the EC, a candidate would just go to the population centers and promise the voters everything under the sun. He would ignore the least populated states. The EC gives a voice to the entire country.

And for that reason, you will never get an amendment to do away with it because you would be taking the power away from the states and they would never agree to that.

It would be dangerous to Californicate the whole country. Other states shouldn't have to support the welfare magnets.

I doubt it....... minority groups will fight to keep it
and I see the Democratic Party on their side or dumping them.
