I was simply pointing out what was wrong with your guy's basic assumptions. If you doubt that humans are pack animals just take a look around SI and see how people have self organized themselves, forming small groups and combining strategies to beat other groups.

If we were in a herd we wouldn't have a market at all because there would be no one to take the other side. Traders succeed primarily by going out first against what the majority is doing. As it becomes apparent that they are successful more people switch strategies to copy them. This is the exact point when you should be looking to switch your own strategy.

A look around SI on Sunday night had everyone looking down, all the chart chasers over on the MDD and here.....no one except that fruit cake over on the porch was talking rally or even slightly bullish, no one. This is when you have to start looking up. How could the consensus be so wrong? Must be manipulation, right?
