Compaq Announces Senior Management Promotions

Peter Blackmore and Mike Winkler Named Executive Vice Presidents,
Mary McDowell Named Senior Vice President

HOUSTON, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ)
today announced the promotions of two executives to executive vice president
and a third executive to senior vice president.
Peter Blackmore, currently senior vice president and general manager for
Sales and Services, has been named executive vice president, Sales and
Services, while Michael Winkler, currently senior vice president and general
manager for the Commercial Personal Computer Group, has been named executive
vice president, Global Business Units. Mary McDowell, currently vice
president and general manager of the Industry Standard Server Group, has been
promoted to senior vice president and general manager of that business unit.
Compaq Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Capellas said the
promotions will significantly improve the company's long-term strategic
planning capabilities while leveraging the synergy across Compaq's core
operating units. And with the most recent addition of Shane Robison as senior
vice president and chief technology officer, the senior management team is now
complete.
