Why would doing away with the EC be a partisan issue?
Are you as a republican afraid your policies will never ever appeal to urban voters? if so then maybe it's time to change those policies to be more representative. Maybe that's the big problem with the Republican party and why it so often lives in the past. Maybe this would save the Republican party. God knows Dick Cheney is not the type who best represents the interests of the average American. Maybe a change would bring more popular candidates into the GOP and mean you wouldn't have to run fossils like Dole for president. GW Bush was crowned by the GOP without any real democractic process. Without his appealing personality you have to admit he is an unqualified man. More of a front-man for the money interests behind him. There are thousands of people more qualified to be president than him. Not saying personality and attractiveness don't matter but what's he doing as your candidate anyway when if you ask most Republicans they mourn the fact that McCain was crushed by the system. Maybe the GOP NEEDS CHANGE. I mean look at your party. Old entrenched power brokers control everything. The old regime. No new ideas. No concern for most Americans. GW got by on personality while disguising and concealing the real content. It was all slogans and pep rallies. There wasn't one iota of discussion about anything that really matters to Americans from him, unless you want to count a tax-break, which is frankly ill-advised until we pay off the debt. For example all his posturing about the military. Gore-Lieberman actually have more money in their budget for the military. So what was that all about? Just knowing how to deliver a message which subliminally undermines the opponent's masculinity. No substance. I could go on and on. Boith parties need change but ESPECIALLY the GOP which IS the champion of corporate soft money.

It will never be a perfect world but we do need change. And Bush is not going to deliver it.
