Just blithely and blatantly ignored.

None of the ideals of the Republic embodied in the
constitution has ever changed.

States are becoming less and less relevant. I've lived in nine states myself, all different. If I'm voting I want my vote to count nomatter where I live. Defending the rights of old landowners over individual citizens just won't play in the 21st century. Besides small states have their senators. That's more than enough extra representation. Let's not let New Hampshire decide our nominees as well as our presidents (* note - if Gore had had 6,000 more votes in New Hampshire florida wouldn't matter).
