Jesse Ventura is more of a threat to the GOP than the Dems. He would do a Perot on the GOP in 2004 by taking primarily white middle-class males which the GOP depends on. The GOP cannot win with just Religious Conservatives and the rich. However, if the GOP were to back McCain-Feingold it would certainly pass into law and they would protect themselves against Ventura (or whomever). However you also allow the independents into the process.
