Why "chad" anyway? Who named it?

If they had to name it after a country, I'd prefer one of the Baltic States. A dimpled Lithuanian or a pregnant Estonian has a much better ring to it.

The term dates to the late 1950's when punch cards were the standard way of reading data into a computer.
