If you think this is Democrat issue you're deluded.
Expect an enormnous independent movement pushing this in the next four years; EC reform and campaign finance reform. Bush promised "reform" in Washington. But this is TRUE reform, forcing candidates like Gore and Bush to run on a more equal footing, then letting every vote count and not just those in Florida. The young generation is going to get in on it as will swing-voters and independents right, left and center. Since the Democrats have a slight advantage in supporting these reforms they will also get behind it. A few like McCain from the GOP will join them. The GOP loyalists and machinery will be left as the last obstacle to reform in this country. So why fight when you can switch? If Bush had 500 fewer votes in Florida or was ahead nationally you'd see this more clearly. right now you're just being partisan.
