Any politician who wants to make hay for himself is going to get on either campaign finance reform of EC reform, I believe. The country as a whole doesn't care about any other particular issues right now. If you look at the polls you'll see no particular issue galvanized the public this year, but seeing how thing thing is ending and how it should never have happened, solutions will be the focus of the new year. And the only solutions are a fair vote nationally and campaign finance reform. Every vote should matter and you shouldn't have to start with $90,000,000 in soft money to be able to run for president.
