I don't think he needs to apologize (if he is proven incorrect). What he stated was his personal opinion, based on the available evidence (which includes the people who worked on the project). He made no attempts to hide this fact - like others, he was just voicing his opinion. If it comes to the point where we have to apologize every time we are wrong then... well... let's just say, I hope we don't get there.

As for admitting he was wrong [if, indeed, he is], I'm convinced he'll be the first.
