Gore proposes meeting with Bush
Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore said tonight he would be open to a statewide recount in Florida, and he proposed holding a face-to-face meeting with GOP candidate George W. Bush before the vote is settled.

Earlier today, the Florida Supreme Court rejected an emergency petition from Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris asking it to delay any hand recounting of ballots and to consolidate lawsuits in the chaotic vote count that has left the presidential election hanging in the balance for more than a week.
