Gore speaks...

Gore just said if a hand recount of PB, Dade, and Broward counties are done he will accept the final outcome (after absentees) with NO more legal crap. He also said he would agree to a full recount of the whole state.

He proposed to meet Bush before AND after the outcome regardless of the outcome to ensure confidence for Americans, or something like that..

I'm glad one of them finally spoke up. I was hoping it would be Bush, but guess not. There's clearly no way Bush's crew will just agree to everything, but this will force a response, and I think that is what is needed to finally end this thing. I'm glad to see Gore doesn't want this to stay in court...not what I expected of him. It's also good to see Gore didn't propose something silly like a revote.

The Bush camp will initially say no to all recounts but at least now they are forced to respond with Bush and not Baker since Gore took the high ground.

Willcousa,

Being from Chicago myself, I appreciate:

He said a lady from Indiana who was a strong deomocrat asked in her will that she be buried in Chicago so that she could remain active in politics.

Chicago is a different world than Florida. In Chicago you have POLITICS, here you have politics. The big guys are very involved, but the average Joe isn't. We don't have precinct captains ringing our doorbells trying to get out the vote, and saying he can get that pot hole in front of the house fixed, in the same sentence. I sincerely believe most of the folks that serve on the elections here are just doing their civic duty, and wouldn't think about cheating.

BWDIK,

John
