Re: Japan "Wireless Web" subs.

<< Here is a link to the Japanese sub numbers for the year. During October, KDDI added 330,000 new EZweb customers >>

Yo da man!

Great link that I had never seen. Took me a bit to get acclimatized to it.

For the threads benefit, Here is the breakout of total Japanese Mobile Web Services subs through October 31, 2000:

1.) NTT DoCoMo Group - "i-mode" - 14,037,000 total subs
2.) KDDI all combined - "EZweb" - 4,222,700 total subs
3.) The J-PHONE Group - "J-sky" - 3,540,100 total subs

Total Japan "Wireless Web" subs = 21,799,800 end October 2000

Note: KDDI "EZweb" subscribers are derived from the total of the recently merged companies as follows:

"au" Group = 3,491,600 total subs
TU-KA Group = 731,100 total subs

October Japan "Wireless Web" Increase:

1.) NTT DoCoMo Group - "i-mode" - 1,389,000 total subs
2.) The J-PHONE Group - "J-sky" - 3,540,100 total subs
3.) KDDI all combined - "EZweb" - 4,222,700 total subs

October Increase = 2,121,100

This cross hatches pretty closely with my previous clip from todays Reuters:

"In October, the total number of users accessing the Internet through cell phones in Japan jumped 10.7 percent from September to 21.8 But of that total, KDDI's EZ-Web only accounted for 19 percent while DoCoMo's "i-mode" service held 64 percent."

When Keith said ...

"In the last report I saw from DDI, they said they were signing up 1 million of their customers per month for their new wireless Internet service. This report was published back in August or September in a article featuring the new color microbrowsers that Hitachi was including on their phones"

.. he may have misinterpreted month for quarter. or he may have seen a DoCoMo report.

Anyway, thanks again for a great link.

<< makes the vacation even nicer when you come back from the golf course and see that Qualcomm is up a couple of points a day ;-). >>

OK Slacker "Bagger Vance". NO CHEERLEADING!
