11:31 ET Brocade Comms (BRCD) 222 1/8 +4 1/8: On a Bear Stearns conference call discussing the SAN segment, a Nishan Systems (private) executive claims that Storage over IP (SoIP) performance is already comparable to Fibre Channel (FC), the technology used by BRCD, Emulex (EMLX), and QLogic (QLGC), and will improve with 10 gigabit Ethernet products from companies such as Extreme (EXTR) and Foundry (FDRY). Also notes, however, that FC SANs will probably be around for 5-10 years, as SoIP will interconnect with today's FC SANs. Market has been concerned that FC will eventually lose to SoIP -- clearly, Nishan wants you to believe that, but the timetable is long.

It looks like the price was brought mid-way to the option strike price inflicting maximum pain and activity for the MMs. We will know tomorrow, won't we?
