Joe, your absolutely right, the only thing I heard of being measured in the CPI is hardware, but if they included software it wouldn't matter anyway.

As far as CPI is concerned it would be cheaper anyway because you are getting som much more, more value for your money.

It is the same thing in Canada's CPI calculation, for example, cars are cheaper now than 10 years ago because of increased value for your money, air bags, surround sound CD,
antilock brakes, fuel injection etc.

However, ask any consumer if they believe cars are cheaper?

I doubt we will ever see much inflation in the government stats unless we get into hyper inflation, like a 3rd world countries have experienced
