REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ --
Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL), the largest provider of software for e-business,
today announced that Executive Vice President Gary Bloom is leaving to become
CEO of VERITAS Software. "Gary is joining a key Oracle partner. With Gary at
VERITAS we expect an already close relationship to grow even closer," said
Larry Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Oracle Corporation. "We are very proud of
Gary. He is a first rate executive, and Gary is ready to be a CEO. During
his fourteen year career at Oracle he did a wonderful job for us, and I am
certain that he will do a wonderful job for them."
Bloom will assist in the transition of his responsibilities at Oracle
until December 15th. This will ensure a smooth transfer of Gary's operational
responsibilities. "In typical Gary style, this transition is being handled
positively and professionally," continued Ellison. "I look forward to working
with Gary in his role as CEO of one of Oracle's most important partners, and
one of the Valley's most innovative companies."
Bloom's responsibilities at Oracle will be split among several Oracle
senior executives. "Oracle has great depth of management," said Jeff Henley,
Chief Financial Officer, Oracle Corporation. "Dozens of companies in the
Valley are now headed by Oracle alumni. There is no better proof of the
quality of our people, or the strength of the training they get at Oracle."
