how a statesman operates
Even though Nixon's name did not appear on challenges, the Republican party challenged 11 Illinois precincts for re-counts.

The truth is you don't challenge unless you know you are going win, Gore has more than enough votes to win. Nixon didn't or at least he couldn't be sure.

No matter how you look at it.
- Popular vote? Gore wins
- Electorial vote? Gore wins
- Vote minus third parties Gore wins

I don't think Junior George asked for this. Some people asked him "How would you like $100 million to be President of the United States" so he naturally said "Ummm, Okey-dokey". Now he will be seen as the most desperate of partisan tricksters in that endeavor, when in reality he was just along for the ride. Well, it's all in the company you keep.
