JC, <MaxPC has truly sunk.>
I agree. Their Duron review a couple months ago was a travesty. They outfitted the Celeron and Duron machines with GeForce Ultra video cards and then complained when the Duron had only slightly higher framerates in Quake III at 1024x768 resolution. DUH, its nearly fill-rate limited at that resolution!

And who is going to marry a $75 CPU with a $300 video card?

The last issue was a little more balanced.

My December issue of MaximumPC is here. It actually seems to be fairly pro AMD. Not only did the AMD Athlon with Performance Enhancing Cache get the Gear of the Year award in the processor division, but about the only significant mention of P4 seems to be "Glitch Delays Pentium 4 Launch". I see no P4 benchmarks, but I do see benchmarking of an Athlon 1GHz DDR Beta system.

BTW, the review system is a Polywell 1GHz Athlon, 128MB of PC1600 DDR SDRAM, on a Tyan S2398 motherboard with 760 chipset.
