Folks--Let's face facts--The Bush camp is resisting state-wide manual recounts for only ONE reason-they think they will lose because most improperly punched ballots were likely filled out by either lowly educated people or frail women and these people are likely mainly Democrats, regardless of the county. As Al Rollins said last night -"yes, I know, but they can't publicly say that"--Rollins byw wants W to win but disagreed strongly with the Harris/Bush moves last night and thinks the GOP will likely lose in court on friday and live to regret this. He actually thinks Bush 'can' win the statewide manual recount and in any event is most unwise to look as if he is afraid to really find out what people were thinking when they entered the polling booth. He is a staunch R supporter and said 'I'm going to get in trouble with my side on this, but..' He also implied that Harris' career is ruined

By the by, I don't have a breakdown, but a friend tells me that in San Diego County before you can break ground for a new home, you'll pay some 30,000 in permits first. Anyone who can check that, thanks. My source may not be reliable, but has insisted it's true for several years now. Amazes me, if true.
