Let's look at it this way. The election was tuesday. Results too close to call. State law makes it mandatory for a machine recount. That was done wednesday or thursday. After the machine recount the candidates have 3 days to ask for a hand canvassing. That takes us to sat or sun. Didn't Harris tell them not to do a hand count on saturday? It takes at least a day to gear up for a recount of this size by hand. There just wasn't enough time to count half a million votes although Volutare (sp) county had theres' (250,000, I think) done by tuesday at 5. The court made Harris allow the counties to resume counting and I think part of the reason why is related to some of what I have said.

They would have had less than 2 days to count 500,000 votes. One of the courts going up the line somewhere would rule in favor of the hand count even if not for what I have said above. All of this is just my opinion.
