Thanks Gustave. We all know that this is hardball. Neither side will back off without a gut wrenching fight. If both parties were in the opposite position they would both be doing the opposite things, Gore trying to call the game at the buzzer, Bush trying to take it into overtime. In the end there is plenty of blame to go around.

My comments are as much to the candidates in this soap opera as they are to the members of this thread. In the end, as I opined last night, the 'leaders' seem to reflect the people they lead. The win at all costs, no compromise attitude can be seen in the public debate by the candidates, their surrogates and the people. It gets tiresome.

Thanks for your post. I like the comparison to the papal election. There may be more underlying truth here than people think.
