From a mostly uninformed opinion -

My reading, conjecture (and hope) at this point is the following:

1) '987 validity recognized

2) SNDK says "workaround non-infringing if you say so, but we get to inspect"

3) SNDK basically gets some legal fees plus

4) LEXR becomes another licensee for '987

5) LEXR (and Reimer) can save face and prevent itself from getting crushed by shareholder lawsuits. At this point, LEXR can now say "Well, we have a technical workaround, but after extensive analysis it would probably be too costly to implement, so we're just going to pay royalties instead..."

6) Besides saving litigation money and making nice with its licensees, I'd prefer to think SNDK agreed to settle because it has the upper hand, rather than because it truly felt threatened by a workaround. BWDIK

Questions:

Is the 4% rate higher or lower than the other licensees, do you think?
