NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Compaq Computer
Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) today
announced that its iPAQ Home Internet Appliance and iPAQ
Pocket PC were awarded the Best of
What's New in the Computer and Software and Electronics
categories respectively during Popular
Science magazine's 13th annual Best of What's New issue.

``The iPAQ Pocket PC is perfect for the jet-setting executive.
Not only does it feature calendar,
address book and e-mail functions, but it also allows you to
create Microsoft Word and Excel files on
the go. It's one of the most business-savvy personal digital
assistants we've seen,'' said Cecilia
Wessner, Editor-In-Chief of Popular Science. ``Compaq's Home
Internet Appliance is the first device
to deliver e-mail and the Web in a stylish, easy-to-use package.
Bringing up the Web takes just a
single touch, and the opening screen displays unread e-mail,
online chat partners and local news.
What could be easier?''

According to Popular Science, Compaq's Home Internet
Appliance ``is the first machine to deliver
e-mail and Web access in a package that won't embarrass you
in front of the neighbors.'' The new
iPAQ Home Internet Appliance is available for $599 plus $21.95
for Microsoft Network Service. And,
rebates are available to further reduce the cost.

``The awards from Popular Science reaffirm the value and quality
that Compaq is delivering to
consumers to enhance their ability for anytime and anywhere
access to the Web,'' said Jack Novia,
Compaq's vice president of Northeast region enterprise sales.
``Offerings like the iPAQ Home
Internet Appliance and the iPAQ Pocket PC introduce
customers to the new world of computing by
offering easy and simple access to the full benefits of the
Internet.''

El...The Prince's Portfolio
America Online (AOL: news, msgs),
Priceline (PCLN: news, msgs),
Amazon.com (AMZN: news, msgs)
Ebay (EBAY: news, msgs).

This is not a portfolio of the most solid tech
companies. Although all leaders in their
field they have a relatively low barrier
to entry with low profits.

CPQ does not fit into that portfolio.
